India’s Drone Technology Evolution: A Path Towards Self-Reliance.

India has made remarkable strides in drone technology over the past six years, according to Surveyor General of India Hitesh Kumar Makwana. Speaking at a workshop in Bhopal, he emphasized how drones have evolved from limited applications to become versatile tools with widespread adoption across various sectors.

Government’s Strategic Initiative

The Central government has implemented a comprehensive drone policy to facilitate the widespread adoption of drone technology. This policy framework includes detailed guidelines covering:

• Necessary operational rules
• Licensing procedures
• Specified periods of operation

Makwana highlighted that drones are not merely flying cameras but represent transformative technology capable of delivering services across different levels, promising enhanced facilities for citizens.

Madhya Pradesh: Leading the Drone Revolution

Madhya Pradesh has emerged as a frontrunner in drone technology implementation, particularly through its successful use of drones in the Swamitva Yojana. The state’s achievements showcase how drone technology can be efficiently deployed while remaining accessible and cost-effective.

Future Development and Manufacturing

Additional Chief Secretary of Science and Technology, Sanjay Dubey, announced that Madhya Pradesh is taking concrete steps to establish drone manufacturing units within the state. This initiative aligns with the state’s vision to develop a robust and comprehensive drone ecosystem.

“Madhya Pradesh is working for the practical and beneficial use of drones at the regional level. We aim to develop a strong and holistic ecosystem in the state. The use of drone technology is not just an option but it is a necessity of the future,” stated Dubey.

Information Portal Launch

As part of the initiative, a dedicated drone-centric information portal was launched to serve as a comprehensive resource for drone technology, policy information, and training materials. This platform will facilitate better integration and access to drone-related information.

Alignment with National Vision

The development of drone technology infrastructure aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) and Make-in-India initiatives, positioning India as an emerging leader in drone technology development and implementation.
