JSW Defence to Boost Telangana’s Drone Manufacturing with ₹800 Crore Investment

In an exciting development at the World Economic Forum in Davos, JSW Defence has announced a significant investment of ₹800 crore in Telangana to establish a cutting-edge manufacturing facility for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). This JSW Defence investment in Telangana strategic move aims to enhance India’s defence capabilities with the local production of advanced drones.

The MoU between JSW Defence’s subsidiary, JSW UAV Limited, and the Telangana state government marks a pivotal moment in the state’s industrial growth. The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Parth Jindal of JSW Group. This collaboration is poised to position Telangana as a leader in manufacturing, particularly in the defence sector, alongside its established reputation in software and pharmaceuticals.

JSW UAV Ltd’s strategic partnership with Shield AI, Inc, a prominent US defence technology company, is a highlight of this venture. The collaboration intends to manufacture Shield AI’s “V-BAT”, a Group 3 Unmanned Aerial System, within Telangana. This effort will indigenise defence technology, making world-class UAS technology available in India while reducing dependence on foreign imports.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed pride in this development, stating, “Hyderabad, and Telangana, have always been key players in the global market as software and pharma leaders. With a clear vision and diligent effort, we are now establishing Telangana as a preferred investment destination across various sectors, including defence.”

Parth Jindal emphasised the company’s commitment, saying, “This MoU underscores our unwavering commitment to playing a key role in indigenising defence technology in India. We are deeply grateful to the government of Telangana for its guidance and support through industry-friendly policies that make initiatives like these possible.”

This initiative not only showcases JSW Defence’s dedication to enhancing India’s defence sector but also aligns with the nation’s broader goals of innovation and self-reliance in technology. As Telangana continues to rise as a hub for diverse industrial investments, this project stands as a testament to the fruitful collaboration between government and private enterprises in bolstering the country’s technological infrastructure.

Stay tuned for more updates on this transformative project and the exciting advancements in drone technology it promises to bring.
